ELGIN Golf Club’s Five-Day Open is almost at its halfway stage with matchplay action getting underway this morning.

Corey Edgar topped the leaderboards after the opening two days, with scores of 71 and 68 for a gross of 139.

Jake Scott and Andrew Fyvie were his closest competitors, with both posting a gross score of 142.

A total of 117 golfers entered the competition. The best 16 gross scores qualified for the knockout stages of the Kynoch Shand Cup, with eight matchplay ties being contested today (Wednesday, July 17).

Matchplay competitions are also ongoing for the W J Clark Cup; Engineers Salver and Alan Milne Seniors Shield.
