Reid (42) equalled his own personal best lift, which is a current Scottish record, to finish second in the masters category at the Horncastle competition.

The former Forres Academy teacher, now based near Aberlour, was delighted to finish third overall in the open category of the competition.

"I didn’t go with any numbers in my head," he said. "I just wanted to represent myself as best as I could.

"The result is a significant confidence booster ahead on my next competition in March."
