Burghead were one of just two north teams to reach the fourth round of the cup, with the draw handing them a trip to a star-studded Drumchapel side.

The West of Scotland League side, who reached the fourth round of senior football’s Scottish Cup and narrowly lost to Elgin City two years ago, boast several experienced former SPFL stars and Scotland under-21 internationals.

Argyll McCoist, son of current TV pundit and Rangers goalscoring legend Ally, played up front for United and scored two of their opening three goals in a 6-0 win over Burghead.

Some of the travelling Burghead fans and committee posed for pictures with McCoist, as well as fellow former Ibrox favourite Novo who is on the Drumchapel coaching staff.

Two more ex-Rangers stars, David Templeton and Gregg Wylde, were in the winning Drumchapel side. Both also players represented Scotland at under-21 level.

Their playing staff includes two players who made over 400 SPFL appearances in defenders Martin McNiff and Andy Geggan. Another veteran stopper Kevin Nicoll boasts over 350 league appearances for eight SPFL clubs in his long career.

Former Scotland under-19 international David Hopkirk, who starred for Dunfermline, Annan Athletic and Hamilton Accies, netted Drumchapel’s fourth goal in the game.
