Rothes dump Lossie on penalties
ROTHES dumped Lossiemouth out of the AJG Parcels North of Scotland Cup after the drama of a penalty shootout.
The Speysiders were the better side over the 90 minutes but found themselves behind at half-time after Sean McIntosh's misplaced pass was pounced on by Ross Archibald and he angled a shot into the net from 12 yards.
Rothes hit back 17 minutes into the second half when Kris Duncan porduced an almost carbon copy strike for the visitors.
Colin Charlesworth then hit woodwork for Lossie but neither side could find a winner.
Straight to penalties at the end of 90 minutes, Rothes keeper Ricky Horne was the hero, saving penalties from Kevin Grant and Craig Morrison, while Michael Fletcher, Stuart Massie, Stephen Robertson and Michael Dunn all converted theirs for a 4-2 shootout win.
Rothes now play Forres Mechanics in the second round of the competition.
