ROTHES manager Ross Jack hopes his side can replicate last season's Highland League Cup success in tomorrow's North of Scotland Cup final – this time in front of the club's fans.

While the Speysiders defeated Buckie Thistle 2-1 to win their maiden Highland League Cup last year, the club's fans weren't permitted to attend the final in Huntly due to coronavirus restrictions.

In fact, the last time Rothes fans saw their club win a cup final was way back in 1979, when they were named North Cup champions for the second time.

Ross Jack said: "Winning the Highland League cup was great, but the only disappointment on the day was that there were no supporters there to back us.

"Hopefully this time there is good support from both sets of fans. I'm sure Brora will take a good number, as they always do, and will take a large support through.

"Hopefully they will be loud, colourful, good banter and in good spirits as always."

Rothes head into the match at Lossiemouth's Grant Park on the back of a 13-match undefeated run in all competitions.

Opposition doesn't come much tougher than Highland League champions Brora, though, who edged into the final after a penalty shoot-out victory against Lossie.

Jack added: "We got a taste for it when we won the Highland League Cup so the players are ready to go again.

"It'll be a hugh task. Brora have some very good players and we respect them but we don't fear them, we've got every right to be there.

"It's about keeping on doing what we've been doing, working extremely hard.

"We are determined to keep our run going, whether league of cup, but teams are desperate to end it and we know that.

"It's about who turns up on the day. We've got to produce a performance that's worthy of winning a cup final."

Rothes were 4-1 victors over Clach at Mackessack Park on Saturday, with an Aidan Wilson brace added to by goals from Michael Finnis and Craig Cormack.

Meanwhile, Brora come into the the match off the back of a defeat to Inverurie Locos.

"Brora will be hurting from their defeat so we will have to stand our ground," Jack added.

"We were delighted to get the win against Clach, some said that 4-1 flattered us but I don't care what they say – a 4-1 win is a 4-1 win."
