Rothes Tennis Club serve up a treat for Speyside youngsters

ROTHES Tennis Club have led a group of 84 budding young racquet stars through coaching sessions.

The pre-school group have fun with coaches Callum Thomson and Alannah Ayres.

The children range in age from 4 to 16 and come from all parts of the Speyside area to take part each Friday.

Club coach Callum Thomson takes the Friday lessons, helped by teenage member Alannah Ayres who is coaching youngsters as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. programme.

In order to cope with the numbers attending, the club also hosts coaching on Tuesdays, led by Stephen Anniss.

Meanwhile Elgin Tennis Club recorded two magnificent victories at the weekend.

On Saturday the 12s visited Rothes, who had hoped to get back on track following the defeat at the hands of Bellfield.

However, the Duff Avenue quartet were having none of it and proceeded to win the derby fixture without dropping a set.

Teams, Rothes: Ben Ross, Hamish Scott, Alfie McConnachie, Shane Fox. Elgin: Harris Nairn, Cameron Breheny, Finlay Murdoch, Drew Murdoch.

Meanwhile, the Elgin 14s travelled to Inverness to play Bellfield Park.

Represented by Lewis Aykroyd, Lewis Simpson, Tomas Allan and Brodie McMulken, the visitors returned with an 8-4 win.

There are 84 children, split into 9 Groups,taking part in the sessions. They come from all parts of the Speyside area and range in age from 4 to 16 years old
