ROTHES have appointed former Brora Rangers assistant boss Steven MacDonald as their new manager.
The Inverness-based pair accepted the job on Sunday night and signed a three-and-a-half year deal on Monday.
It is a first Highland League management job for MacDonald (41), a former centre half at Elgin City, Forres Mechanics and Caley Thistle.
He told the Northern Scot he has big plans to resurrect the fortunes of the Speysiders.
“The priority is to change the whole mentality in the place from the easy touches that people see them as at the moment,” he said.
“(We want) a winning mentality that people are actually scared to play against and fear going there on a Saturday instead of banking on the three points.”
MacDonald replaces Fraser Bremner, who was sacked just before Christmas after 14 months at the helm.
I can hold my head up high says sacked Rothes boss
MacDonald was Munro’s assistant at Brora earlier this season, before they parted company with the Sutherland outfit and Ross Tokely took over as manager.
They have now swapped positions, with Munro happy to be number 2 and set to continue playing with Rothes once he is fully fit.
The new duo met the Rothes squad for the first time at training on Monday night, and will take charge for Saturday’s league match at Clach.
