The former Ross County midfielder netted twice in City’s 4-1 win at Stranraer in their opening League Two match on Saturday.

Dingwall also scored a penalty in the previous weekend’s Betfred Cup win over Stirling, and has made the SPFL team of the week two Saturday’s running.

Considering he only scored one goal in 38 appearance for the Black and Whites, it’s something of a surprise to see Dingwall knocking in the goals - but not to manager Gavin Price.

“You get out of football what you put into it and Russell has worked harder than anybody over the summer,” he said. “I could monitor that through the Strava runs.

“He is playing with confidence and you get your rewards when you are fully fit.

“There were no arguments over his fitness last year, but I think he’s really gone to a new level this season. He’s getting about the park well and we are giving him a more forward role in the midfield and it is suiting him well. It’s not just about the goals, it’s the energy he gives us and some of the forward runs he makes.

“He really has been playing well through pre season and he has carried that on into the league, so long may that continue.”
