Moray Leisure Centre ice hockey club receives protective equipment funding for young players





An ice hockey club has netted a windfall which will enhance safety for their players.

Moray Junior Ice Hockey Club received £1296 towards goal equipment from the Gordon and Ena Baxter Foundation.

The money will buy protective padding and heavy-duty nets.

Jo Stewart, fundraising manager, said: “These are crucial for ensuring the safety of our players and goalies while maintaining the flow of the game.”

“Goalies and players often collide near the net and heavy-duty padding on the goal posts and crossbar helps protect the goalies from injury.”

Jo said support from organisations like the Gordon and Ena Baxter Foundation is crucial as ice hockey equipment is expensive, and this allows the club to buy equipment which meets SIHA standards.

She said the support would make a “significant impact” to the safety of players.
