Scottish Gas Scottish Cup first round sees Buckie Thistle beat Huntly thanks to Fin Allen’s double while Deveronvale topple Darvel and late Caledonian Braves double stuns Forres Mechanics





A former player came back to haunt his old club in the Scottish Cup.

Fin Allen was Buckie Thistle’s hero with a second half double in Jags’ 3-1 victory at Huntly in one of four all-Highland League ties.

Allen, who had a loan spell at Huntly from former side Elgin City, struck on 51 and 68 minutes while Marcus Goodall netted for the visitors on the hour to cancel out Adam Morris’ first half Huntly goal.

Rothes’ long wait for a win in any competition continued as Wick Academy picked up their first home win of the season, defeating the Speysiders 5-0.

The return of top scorer Marc Macgregor from injury was pivotal for Wick as he scored twice, Davie Allan (2) and Euan Kennedy also on target with the home team 4-0 up and cruising at half time.

Forres Mechanics lost out to a late, late double at home to Lowland League Caledonian Braves.

The match was goalless going into the closing stages with Forres having Kaiden Connolly sent off on 79 minutes, before a disputed penalty on 87 minutes and an even later goal won it for Braves.

Lossiemouth also went down bravely to Highland league joint-leaders Formartine United.

Matthew McLean’s goal had United in front at half time but Liam Harvey’s fourth strike of the season levelled for the Coasters, before Rory McAllister plundered a Formartine winner with 15 minutes left.

Fraserburgh were 1-0 winners at Brora Rangers thanks to Logan Watt’s early goal, while Deveronvale pulled off a fine 3-1 win at Darvel with Dem Yunus, Keane Matheson and Lucas Smith getting their goals.

Turriff United also marched on, 2-1 winners at home to Hill of Beath Hawthorn. early goals by Miller Keir and Ryzie McLean had Turriff up and running with the visitors netting a late penalty.

Second half goals by James Anderson and Troy Cooper took Clach from behind to defeat Kilwinning Rangers 2-1.

Fraser Dingwall and Ben Barron got the Nairn County goals in a 2-0 success at Berwick Rangers, while Banks o’ Dee defeated hosts Bo’ness United 3-0.

Inverurie Locos lost 2-0 at home to Sauchie Juniors, Strathspey Thistle were edged out 2-1 after extra time against Dundee North End and Brechin City were 3-1 winners at Lochee United.
