The Black and Whites are now in the last 32 of the competition and join the likes of Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen in tonight’s fourth round draw.

The ties will be revealed on BBC Scotland after tonight’s final third round tie between East Kilbride and Falkirk.

Elgin produced one of their best performances of a season which has also seen them rise to the summit of League 2.

Ryan Sargent - who celebrates his 24th birthday today - put the Moray side in front with a glorious header from a pinpoint Owen Cairns cross just before half time.

Callum Flatman’s equally good header from a free kick tied the scores up on 58 minutes for the Fife visitors.

The introduction of striker Dylan Gavin from the bench triggered an Elgin surge, with the Irishman blasting the home team in front on 78 minutes before setting up Sargent for his second goal five minutes later.

Ross Cunningham’s late penalty made it a nervy finale for the home fans but they held out quite comfortably for a memorable victory.
