Two Elgin Amateur Boxing club youngsters claim Scottish development championship gold medals in Ravenscraig Sports centre with a third pipped into silver medal position in final





Three Elgin Amateur Boxing Club youngsters reached the final of the Scottish Development Championships - and two took home gold.

The championships were staged at the Ravenscraig regional sports centre in Motherwell.

There was joy for schoolboy Billy Chalmers in the 60kg division, who came through three tough bouts to become the year 2010 champ.

Fighting in the same age group at 54kg, Buckie high schoolboy Jose Imlach also won two fights to reach the final, where he faced a scrappy opponents who effectively smothered him and took the victory, with Imlach winning silver.

Elite 71kg boxer David Grigor completed his comeback from injury to claim a superb four victories over two weekends and secure the gold medal.

Fellow Elgin boxer Matthew Cargill battled his way to victory on two occasions, gaining unanimous decisions.

Unfortunately Cargill then had to drop out of the competition due to injury.
