Talks will take place this week aimed at creating a pathway for football stadiums to allow entry to limited numbers of spectators.

With the new tiered system of restrictions being unveiled on Monday, there is scope for Scotland’s lowest affected areas of coronavirus infection to be deemed safe for stadiums to host football supporters.

It was announced yesterday that Moray, along with the Highlands, the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland would be placed in tier 1.

With lesser restrictions in place in Moray, Elgin City could be given the go ahead to brings fans back into matches along with Inverness Caley Thistle and Ross County, the only other two SPFL clubs from within tier 1 zones.

The guidelines state for tiers 0 and 1, that football fans will be allowed back in some capacity in due course.

This could pave the way for Elgin fans to be given access to their next home match, and set up a framework for Highland League football to resume as planned in November.
