Fochabers stay top of Moray welfare football league after seven-goal win over Portsoy while Aberlour Villa clock up ninth consecutive success in all competitions





The top two sides kept up their winning ways.

Fochabers made it seven wins out of seven in the Moray welfare league with a 7-0 win over bottom side Portsoy on Tuesday.

And nearest rivals Aberlour Villa maintained their 100 per cent start by staving off an RAF Lossiemouth comeback for the second time this term.

Four goals by Jordan Clark and one each for Ewan Edwards, Steven Shand and Warren Orford saw Fochabers to their biggest win of the campaign against Portsoy.

Aberlour have nine wins in a row in all competitions with former Highland League striker Kris Duncan’s hat-trick helping them beat the Lossie airmen 4-2.

Duncan opened the scoring after a great ball from Jay Morrison in the 13th minute, but Danny Finley levelled for the visitors before half time.Gary Morrison missed a Villa penalty, saved by the Lossie keeper but a second award for the Speyside outfit was converted by Duncan to make it 2-1.

Duncan then squared for G Morrison to make it 3-1, although a spell of RAF Lossie pressure was rewarded when Finlay Dashper punished a slack backpass to reduce the deficit.

Victory was secured for Villa in the final minute, Duncan firing through the keeper’s legs from another J Morrison assist.

Craigellachie were 3-2 winners at home to Lhanbryde.

Some good saves by the Lhanbryde keeper thwarted Craig until two goals in the closing minutes of the half put them in control.

Gavin Cameron cross for the first goal fort James McPherson, who provided the assist for Brandon Tinley to make it 2-0.

George Edward added a third after the break before Lhanbryde came into the contest. A superb 25-yarder by Stephen Dey and Ashley Lake netted a free kick from a similar distance to set up a nervous finish for the home team.

Ugie defeated Lossiemouth United 3-1. Bryan Bell, Callum Dunbar and Mark Hector netted for the Keith men and Cairn Lasley replied for Lossie.
