Skipper pledges future to Rothes
ROTHES skipper Michael Dunn has pledged his future to the club by signing a two-year contract.
The deal ends speculation that the 22-year-old defender was set to move to Lossiemouth, where his dad Stevie is manager.
New Speysiders’ boss Frani More said the news has given his team a major lift ahead of his first game in charge at Buckie Thistle on Saturday.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” More said. “He’s had a few offers from other clubs, so it’s a big boost for the club that he’s committing himself to Rothes.”
More has also managed to lure Buckie coach Graeme Roy to Mackessack Park as his assistant boss, and believes skipper Dunn has bought into his new managerial team’s ideas on how to take Rothes up the Highland League table.
“I think he sees mine and Graeme’s plans as moving forward, and it has certainly given both of us a good start in what we are trying to do here.”
This weekend, More will pick his Rothes team for the first time since taking charge three weeks ago.
The manager briefly saw his new team in action when he took in the first half of their 5-0 win against Fort William, and was in the dressing room helping caretaker bosses Dunn and Kevin Shortreed when Rothes were thumped 8-1 at Forres a fortnight ago.
