The semi-finals of the double start cup competitions were staged, with the Springer taking on Rising Sun in the Challenge Cup.

Rising won the first set not knowing that was going to be the only one they would win all night, as Springer just kept taking the sets to run out an emphatic victory.

Mike Durno, who also had a maximum score, claimed the crucial match-winning set. Alistair Mitchell had a 160 checkout along with 130 and 110 finishes from captain Stu Mackenzie.

The final will be an all New Elgin affair after the Caberfeidh fought back against the Braemou to book their place in the final.

The Hopeman side led after the doubles and maintained the two game lead after the first four singles, but then a strong showing from the Caber back four sealed the win.

Caber won the last four sets including the match winner from Stu Duff to claim victory.

In the Imperial Cup, Lossiemouth's Brander Arms had a good away win against the Kirkie Bar B to move through to the final.

The Kirkie actually got into the lead first, helped by a 120 finish from Gordon Symonds,. However, Brander won the remaining three doubles and first single to open up a decisive lead.

The Elgin side did close the gap to just one set with a couple of wins but that was as close as it got for them as the Lossie side then won four of the last five singles to complete the win.

The second semi-final saw a Bonnie Earl derby with the A team taking a two game lead in the singles against their B team opponents.

This lead was reduced in the first singles before the A team won four singles in a row to tie up the win.

John Donaldson, captain of the B team, put another set on the board for his team but that was the last of the night as the A team completed a comfortable win in taking the last two sets.
