Stunning fighback earns City the points

Berwick Rangers 2, Elgin City 3

A STUNNING second half fightback saw Elgin City climb to second place in the League Two table.

A quickfire double from Shane Sutherland and a penalty winner from Paul Harkins stretched Elgin's unbeaten run to seven games with a 3-2 win at Berwick Rangers

Ross Jack's side are now just three points off league leaders East Stirling.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, it looked as if City's miserable run at Shielfield Park would be extended to 18 games without a win against the hosts.

Darren Lavery had headed Berwick into a 26th minute lead and four minutes before the interval Dean Hoskins extended the advantage.

However, then minutes after the restart Shane Sutherland fired Elgin back into the match.

And the ex-Inverness CT striker grabbed a second six minutes later to level the match.

However, less than five minutes later Sean Crighton conceded a penalty but Lavery missed the target.

With 16 minutes remaining Sutherland was fouled in the box and Harkins kept his cool to convert what proved to be the winner.

Scott Dalziel and Dean Carse came close to levelling late on but City held on for the win.

Elgin: Jellema, Niven (Beveridge 54), McMullan, Cameron, Crighton, Duff, Harkins, Sutherland, Gunn, Wyness, McKenzie. Not used: Urquhart, McLean, Khutsishvili, McHardy, Black.
