Elgin City striker Dylan Gavin hails his first senior football hat-trick in Borough Briggs club’s victory over Clyde to move to the top of William Hill League 2

A first-ever senior football hat-trick can kick-start Dylan Gavin’s Elgin City career.

The Irishman was in clinical form in City’s 4-2 win over Clyde on Tuesday, a result which put them back on top of the League 2 table.

Gavin joined team-mates Jack Murray and Russell Dingwall on six goals for the season and top scorer at City.

“That's why the gaffer brought me in here, to score goals,” he said in his post-match interview.

“Obviously, I started off slow, we didn't really get that many chances. But now it's starting to click and I'm delighted to get the hat-trick,”

The 21-year-old spoke about the development of his strike partnership with Dajon Golding, who is also his housemate in Lossiemouth after the pair moved to Moray after signing for City last summer.

“We know all about each other and stuff like that. Hopefully, this is the start of us clicking, where we assist each other and score goals together.”
