They faced a north derby match against Highland in Inverness in the Saltire Energy U18 Caledonia Youth Cup and Shield, and it turned out to be a cracker.

After a nervy start, the Elgin side played to their strengths with some excellent running rugby.

The contest could hardly have been closer, but Moray’s gutsy performance made them worthy of a pulsating 27-25 success.

Tries were scored by Moray’s Logan McKenzie, Beinn Hay, Tom Porter and Angus Lunn, the latter crossing the line twice.

The result spiced things up nicely for a swift rematch in Elgin, as the teams clash again this Saturday in the same competition.
