Rothes Football Club part company with manager Richard Hastings just days after 6-0 home defeat to Strathspey Thistle puts MacKessack Park club bottom of Highland League
Rothes are on the hunt for their next manager following the departure of Richard Hastings.
The Speysiders announced Hastings’ exit just days after they dropped to bottom spot in the Highland League following a disastrous result.
The 47-year-old former Caley Thistle defender, who was capped 59 times by Canada, endured a torrid time at the Mackessack Park helm.
Previously in charge at Inverurie Locos, Hastings was appointed as Ross Jack’s successor at Rothes in February.
His eight-month reign saw the Moray club win just three times in 27 matches, losing 20 including some demoralising results during the current campaign.
A 10-2 league loss at home to Formartine United and 8-0 thrashings at Forres Mechanics in the North Cup and Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup were low points for the club this season.
But they were all superseded by Saturday’s horror 6-0 defeat at home to a Strathspey Thistle side which had won just once this season, but moved off bottom spot at Rothes’ expense.
A Rothes statement said they had parted company with Hastings “due to recent results and our current league position”.
“Throughout his time at the club Richie has conducted himself with honesty, integrity and great dignity especially through the adversity of recent months.
“Everyone at Rothes Football Club wish him all the very best for his future within and out of football.”
