Elgin City manager Allan Hale says he has never seen an injury list like the current Borough Briggs casualty queue but lauds his remaining players for victory over Stranraer
Elgin City boss Allan Hale says his players deserve a huge amount of credit for beating Stranraer in the midst of an injury crisis.
The Black and Whites won 1-0 on Saturday despite having seven players out and playing almost half the match with ten men.
Jack Murray’s second minute header earned a victory which puts Elgin level at the top of League 2 with leaders East Fife.
Hale admitted his team was far from their best but revealed that as well as having so many players on the sidelines, others were playing with injury or illness.
“Things are stacked against us at the moment with the volume of injuries we have,” he said.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. To say we are stretched beyond belief would be an understatement.
“There were a couple of players on the pitch that have been carrying illness and injury.
“You could see the fatigue in the players.”
Hale revealed that Tom McHale, Matthew Cooper, Rory MacEwan, Ryan MacLeman, Ross Draper, Jake Dolzanski and Lewis Hyde are all out for mid-to-long term spells, and Dingwall is now banned for the trip to Bonnyrigg next weekend.
