Elgin City manager Allan Hale pleased with Borough Briggs club’s start to William Hill League 2 start but is determined to work on early flaws
It was movie night at Borough Briggs this week, but no popcorn was being offered to the Elgin City players.
Instead, the Black and Whites squad had to sit in the home dressing room and watch a one-hour video assessment of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Forfar Athletic, and where improvements can be made.
Manager Allan Hale has had challenges to overcome, with goalkeeper Tom McHale picking up a long-term injury forcing him to bring in Ross County youngster Logan Ross as an emergency loan for tomorrow’s SPFL Trust Trophy trip to Kelty Hearts.
The City emerged from his analysis session before Tuesday’s training to give his thoughts on his team’s promising start to the League 2 season, both good and bad elements.
Although undefeated so far, with two wins and two draws, he admitted there has been frustration that City’s points tally is not even higher to date.
Hale described the final half hour of last weekend’s match as “chaotic”, saying his team lost their shape and composure at times.
But he is very satisfied that his team has yet to taste defeat on league business, and has faith in the squad to bring even better performances to the table.
“We are a League 2 team which means our performances will never be perfect,” he said.
“Form will be good and form will be indifferent.”
Hale analyses the Forfar display and said on the balance of play, gaining a point was a positive outcome, unlike the previous weekend’s draw at Stranraer when missed City chances cost them victory.
