VIDEO: “Ever since I spoke (to Elgin City) I liked the sound of what I was hearing” - Jack Murray speaks about his move to Borough Briggs and SPFL football from Highland League champions Buckie Thistle
Grateful to Buckie Thistle for three great years in Highland League football, Jack Murray can’t wait to get started with new club Elgin City.
In his first video interview since signing a three-year deal for the Borough Briggs club, Murray (23) spoke about how he was sold on a move to the Black and Whites - see interview below.
The Highland League player of the year, who scored 26 goals last term to help Jags win the league title, feels he earned the chance to play at a higher level.
“Ever since I spoke (to Elgin City) I liked the sound of what I was hearing and I’m happy to be here now,” he said.
City boss Allan Hale captured the much sought-after centre back this week, saying he was one of the top priority signings for him since taking on the manager’s job at Elgin.
Murray reflected on his time at Jags, playing at Celtic Park and winning his first honour in three years at the Victoria Park club when he helped them take the title on the final day of last term.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity from Buckie at Highland League level,” he said.
“After last season I felt I deserved to go up and progress my career.”
