VIDEO: Losing run continues for Elgin City

By Craig Christie

ELGIN City suffered a fourth straight defeat at home to Annan Athletic on Saturday.

The Galabank side are now certainties for the play-offs after winning 1-0 at Borough Briggs for the second time this season.

City boss Gavin Price said: "It was like a carbon copy of the last game against Annan up here.

Aidan Smith fired home the only goal on 16 minutes after the home defence failed to react to former Hearts striker Christian Nade's flick-on from a throw-in.

"It was really poor defending from a simple throw-in, a terrible goal to lose," Price added.

Kane Hester missed Elgin's best chance to equalise just two minutes after the goal, heading wide from close range.

In the second half City gained plenty territory with wind advantage but the best chances fell to Annan, with Elgin keeper Kyle Gourlay pulling off three good saves.

The Black and Whites are on the road for their next two matches at Stirling Albion on Saturday and Cowdenbeath a week later.
