ELGIN City goal machine Shane Sutherland has already surpassed his strike target for the season.

Sutherland’s hat-trick in Saturday’s 6-0 win over Berwick Rangers brought his tally for the campaign to 17, the highest of his career.

“It’s my best season so far and it’s still only December,” said the City front man.

More Elgin City stories:

“I got 15 in my first full season here and 13 for Peterhead, so 17 in total before Christmas – I would have taken that at the start of the season.

“But I need to keep going. I can’t just be happy with that. I need to set myself a new target.”

The former Caley Thistle man has netted eight times in his past three games.

He scored four in the 8-1 Scottish Cup romp against Hawick and another in the following week’s 4-1 win against Montrose, just hours after his first son Lewis was born.
