Goals by Brian Cameron and Kane Hester (2) earned City their fourth win in a row in all competitions to keep up their perfect start.

Goalkeeper Tom McHale said Elgin were lacklustre in the first 45 minutes but stepped up a gear to see off their Angus visitors.

He spoke about his team's continuity from last season's promotion challenge and how having a good dressing room is producing performances on the park.

The Moray club took some time to get into their stride but took the lead on 17 minutes through brian Cameron's first goal of the season.

City's longest-serving player calmly fired high into the net following good play on the left by Conor O'Keefe.

Elgin were dominant for much of the half but allowed Brechin into it in the closing minutes, with McHale called upon to make a couple of saves.

Hester went close in the first half but produced a typically clinical finish after Brechin made a hash of trying to clear their lines on the hour.

Smart Osadolor then inexplicably missed from right in front of goal, guilty of being too casual when left with a tap-in chance.

He made amends by slipping a pass through for Hester to calmly finish for his fourth goal of the season.

Elgin should have added to their tally but Hester was denied a hat-trick by a fine McMinn save while sub Aiden Sopel fired one opportunity over and skimmed a second wide of the target.

The points had already been sealed by then and the win makes Elgin the only team in League 2 with six points from their opening two matches.

Next weekend they will face their toughtest test yet, an away trip to Edinburgh City.
