IT was the win Elgin City fans had been waiting for, and a huge relief for Borough Briggs boss Gavin Price.

The Black and Whites beat Stirling Albion 3-1 to end a five-match losing sequence and climb out of the League 2 basement zone.

After racing into a 2-0 lead and missing chances to be further ahead at the break, Elgin lost their way and allowed ten-man Stirling back into the game for a spell.

That was a cause of concern for Price, who said he was pleased to see his team move back up the gears and see the game out to victory.

Price was helped out on the day by former City manager Jim Weir, who he used to assist in the management role before succeeding him in the hotseat more than five years ago.

The Price-Weir combination was back in place due to current number 2 Steven MacKay being unavailable for the Stirling game.

Elgin's manager handed a debut to Cove Rangers defender Jevan Anderson and a late sub appearance to Aberdeen winger Tyler Mykyta, his two latest loan signings.

Price is on the brink of adding trialist defender Kane O'Connor to his squad in another late-season transfer swoop.
