WATCH: Elgin City skipper Euan Spark admits losing to Highland League champions Brora Rangers shows there's plenty work to do in the Borough Briggs camp before the SPFL season begins

LOSING to Brora Rangers on Saturday gave Elgin City a "reality check" says captain Euan Spark.

City led 2-0 only to crash to a 3-2 defeat to the Highland League champions at Borough Briggs.

Defender Spark admitted his team crumbled after a positive start but have plenty time to get things right ahead of the start of the Betfred Cup and SPFL campaign.

"It was a reality check," he said. "It was one I think we needed before we go and start the season.

"We all know we've let ourselves down there and we need to get going again."

City, who beat two Highland League sides in Lossiemouth and Forres before losing to Brora, face a fourth tonight when they visit Keith.

Then on Saturday they host Caley Thistle, the first of a double header against the Championship side.
