Having netted his team's crucial winner in the 2-1 win at Stirling Albion a week earlier, Aidan Sopel rose to head home Russell Dingwall's cross on Saturday.

He spoke about how gaining a starting place in City's line-up has given him a real confidence boost.

Meanwhile Elgin have confirmed that assistant manager Keith Gibson has joined boss Gavin Price and goalkeeping coach Stevie Dunn in signing a contract extension until 2023.

Gibson spoke about Sopel's scoring contribution after Saturday's game.

"I’m delighted for Kane (Hester) getting a hat-trick but also for Conor (O'Keefe) coming on to score and Aidan with another trademark header at the back post," he said.

"Aidan has come in and made the position his own and he was excellent."
