Saturday was an emotional but memorable day for Buckie Thistle stalwart Shaun Wood after bringing down the curtain on his playing career.
The 32-year-old was given a Jags testimonial match against Elgin City as recognition for his 12 years service to the current Highland League champions.

Wood, who is retiring due to arthritis in his ankle, a by-product of a serious fracture and dislocation which resulted in a plate being fitted in his leg, bowed out with a 60-minute appearance in Buckie’s 2-0 defeat to their SPFL opponents.
He attracted a good crowd on a rainy Victoria Park day and said he felt a lump in his throat when he walked out with his stepson Grayson (3) to a guard of honour from both sets of players and his name was chanted by the home followers.
Buckie manager Lewis Mackinnon also paid tribute to his long-term team-mate, who he played alongside in Buckie’s defence throughout his 12-year stint.
“He’s been a great player for Buckie,” Mackinnon said. “I remember when he came on for his first game as a young sub for Gregg (former Jags boss Carrol) and I think he might even have scored that day.
“I played very closely beside him, from right centre back to right back so I had a very close working relationship with him over the years.
“Probably in his younger days, he would have hated me shouting and bawling at him. I was a bit harsh on him at times but he always took it well.
“He has a great attitude, a great engine and always a solid, steady player - and a really nice bloke.
“He deserved this big day and he played well today. He’s hardly played in a long time with the condition of his ankle but he slotted in well. He had a tough game against (Elgin forward Ryan) Sargent and he didn’t givbe him a sniff so I’m delighted for him.
“I’m delighted he got a good turnout considering the conditions.”
