Elgin City manager Allan Hale expresses thanks to Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes for loaning teenage goalkeeper from Rugby Park until the end of the year

Elgin City have thanked Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes for loaning out a highly-rated goalkeeper to Borough Briggs.

With regular Tom McHale injured long-term, City boss Allan Hale was on the hunt for a talented replacement from the loan market.

He has secured 19-year-old Aiden Glavin, who McInnes has farmed out to City until the start of January.

Hale did sign Ross County’s Logan Ross on an emergency loan in time for last week’s 3-1 SPFL Trust Trophy defeat at Kelty Hearts, but a deal could not be struck to take in Ross for the rest of the year.

“I want to thank Derek McInnes for his support and co-operation to get the deal done,” said Hale.

“He was really accommodating in terms of his willingness to let the player come here.”

Glavin was on loan at top junior side Auchinleck Talbot last season, playing more than 40 games for the Ayrshire outfit.

He has also had spells at Beith Juniors and Glenafton in his earlier teens.

“He’s had good experience. he is very highly rated at Kilmarmock,” said Hale. “Aiden has been the B team goalkeeper and was their third choice goalkeeper for their recent European adventure.

“He has played for some really good junior teams down south. He is a good size and stature, a good shot-stopper and strong with the ball at his feet as well, which was important for us.

“It’s a good option for us and I am looking forward to getting him in and working with him Saturday and onwards.”

Glavin comes straight into City’s starting eleven to face Bonnyrigg Rose in League Two tomorrow.
