Lossiemouth United have won promotion to the North Region Premiership after victory over New Elgin

Lossiemouth United sealed promotion to the North Junior Football Premier Division with a 1-0 win at New Elgin on Tuesday night.

James Johnston’s goal gave United victory at Nicol Togneri Park which ensured they will be playing in the top flight of north junior football next season.

Victory in their final league game on Tuesday night put them 12 points clear of Hall Russell United in the North Region Championship, who have three games remaining in the campaign.

Lossie will finish at least in second place in the automatic promotion places and will win the title if Longside fail to win any of their final five matches of the season. The Buchan outfit are in third place and 15 points behind Lossiemouth United.

United could have to wait almost a month for the league title to be secured as Longside have to play out their five remaining games and also have cup matches.
