A BATTLING performance from Elgin City saw them come from a goal behind at half-time before securing a penalty shoot-out win against Kelty Hearts.

The Black and Whites trailed 1-0 at the break, but Michael Dangana equalised before City scored all five of their spot-kicks to win 5-4 on penalties. Ex-Celtic midfielder Scott Allan was the only man to miss from 12 yards.

City boss Allan Hale joked that penalties hadn’t been practiced - but praised his players for the standard of their efforts from the spot.

“We haven’t pracited them,” he laughed. “I’ll be honest with that. But we have a lot of ability in the team and players that are confident and had been penalty takers at their previous clubs.

“The penalties from both teams were excellent. People say it’s a lottery, but it takes skill and courage and those who are calm under pressure usually prevail and we managed to do that.”
