Forres title clash falls victim to weather

FORRES Mechanics' bid to win the Highland League title on Wednesday night has been put on hold due to the weather.

Mosset Park failed a lunchtime pitch inspection, meaning the Can Cans' vital clash with Keith was postponed.

The Moray side was hoping to clinch their first league title in 26 years if they defeated Keith, and nearest rivals Cove Rangers lost at Nairn on the same evening.

But the heavy rain falling across the north and north-east over the past few days has put paid to any potential Forres party.

Charlie Rowley's side must now wait another week for their next match at Turriff on May 2.

But they will be watching out for the result from tonight's (Wednesday) Nairn v Cove clash, which is still on.

Buckie Thistle's clash with Rothes and Huntly's meeting with Turriff have also beaten the weather.
