Highland League football card decimated as seven games postponed on Friday including Moray derby between Forres Mechanics and Keith

Seven of Saturday’s Highland League fixtures have already been postponed.

A Friday call-off spree came about because of the frosty conditions across the north.

The Moray derby between Forres Mechanics and Keith is off with Mosset Park unplayable.

It’s a similar story in Grantown where Buckie Thistle’s trip to Strathspey Thistle has been called off, and in Pitmedden where Lossiemouth were due to meet Formartine United, another call-off.

Huntly’s Christie Park is frozen and their clash with Banks o’ Dee has been put into cold storage, similarly Turriff United v Inverurie Locos is off.

Two more to fall by the wayside on Friday were Clach’s trip north to Wick Academy and Brora Rangers’ home clash against Nairn County.

That just leaves two remaining Highland League matches for Saturday at present.

Deveronvale’s clash with leaders Brechin City in Banff, and Fraserburgh’s Bellslea Park meeting with Rothes are still on at the moment.

The plug was pulled on the entire north junior football programme on Thursday.
