January 16 snow – Moray high school closed as primaries delay opening

ANOTHER day of school disruption due to wintery weather has hit Moray.

A high school is closed today, while many schools buses are not running and prelims have been delayed.

The opening of several Speyside primary schools has also been delayed due to difficult conditions.

Milne's High School is closed to all pupils, other than those sitting prelim exams.

Keith Grammar School is opening late, at 9.35am, with pupils who arrive beforehand to go to the PE games hall.

Prelims at the school have also been disrupted, with National 5 Mathematics will start one hour later at 9.45am, Higher Art & Design will start an hour later at 1.15pm, while Higher Business Management has changed venue to Room 31.

Rothes Primary School delayed its opening until 9.30am.

A school spokesperson said that school transport was running as normal, with staff receiving minibus pupils.

The spokesperson added: "Everyone should use the main gates and make your way straight to the front door to enter the school."

Knockando Primary School is to open at 9.30am.

No Kinneil buses are servicing the school, but ACE taxis are running with staff will meeting taxi pupils.

Aberlour Primary School is also opening at 9.30am, though no Edinvillie buses are running.

Pupils have been asked to come in through the main entrance with staff meeting taxi pupils.

Aberlour and Craigellachie pre-school nurseries are also opening at 9.30am.

Speyside High School has reopened after yesterday's closure, but the school confimed that the Edinvillie (Kinneils E) and Archiestown and Knockando (Kinneils G) buses are not running.

"Buses will run at normal times," a spokesperson said.

"If your bus does not arrive within 15 minutes of the normal time young people should return home.

"Morning prelims will start at 9.30am.

"Those with prelims whose buses are not running should not worry.

"We will reschedule these and get information out as soon as we are able."

At Forres Academy, though the school is opening as normal, buses have been widely disrupted.

Cancelled are buses from the Brodies Hill, Califer Hill area (399B), Darnaway, Dyke, Kintessack, Broom of Moy (933C), Rafford, Dallas (933D) and outer lying areas of Kinloss, Alves (933J).

The A939 also continues to be closed, at the Cock Bridge snow gate.
