Get out your leg warmers and travel back in time to when Frankie was saying Relax and drinks were free at the Club Tropicana.

St Giles shopping centre is holding a Back to the 80s Bingo Extravaganza on the last Saturday of August.

And all the money raised will be divided between the Archie Foundation and Great Ormond Street children's hospital.

Tickets for the extravaganza are £25 – good value considering it includes drinks, snacks as well as bingo.

The event will feature ordinary bingo.

Added to that there'll also be a specially adapted version that involves recognising the songs from the 80s, then marking them off on your card.

Angie Chisholm, who's worked at St Giles for the past 30 years, said: "All our staff are volunteering their time for free and that's because they thoroughly enjoy the evening.

"It's a laugh. Everyone has a really good time.

"We held a bingo night – or gingo night – last year, where we had seven or eight different type of gins.

"That was a great success and raised about £1200 for charity.

"We've been holding various events for several years and always like to pick local charities to benefit.

"In the past we've raised money for the Ladybird Group, the Abbie Sparkle Foundation and Riding for the Disabled."

Making a return after its success at last year's bingo event is the lucky dip.

This involves a paddling pool full of polystyrene packing chips plus some mystery prizes.

Angie said: "It was really popular because the prizes were really good. Folk were deciding to have a go themselves after seeing the kind of things that other people were winning."

Also making an appearance on the night will be the 'sweetie carriage', a Cinderella-style contraption that carries ready-made bags of edible goodies.

The 80s Bingo Extravaganza is connected to One Great Day, an annual event which will see shopping centres up and down the country taking part.

The event is taking place from 7.30pm onwards on Saturday, August 26.
