All 20 drivers who were detected using their mobile phones were charged and received six penalty points as well as a £200 fine.

PC Darren Ross from the Elgin Road Policing Team said: "Using your mobile phone whilst driving, even if on handsfree, is extremely distracting and can have disastrous consequences that can have a lasting impact.

"If you need to use your phone, find a suitable and safe place to stop."
