TWENTY-SEVEN new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 1264.

This represents a reduction on the 36 cases confirmed in last week's update, and is the lowest weekly totally in Moray since before Christmas.

There were also no new deaths recorded in Moray, with the death toll since last March remaining 37. Of those, 29 died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test and eight had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

The reduction in positive cases comes despite an increase in the number of tests taken throughout Moray.

In total, 511 people have tested negative for Covid-19 since February 28, an increase on the 428 people who were confirmed as having tested negative in last week's update.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 13,687 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 170 on the 13,517 reported last week.

Moray neighbourhood area update

Five 'neighbourhood areas' in Moray had at least three confirmed cases of Covid-19 between March 1 and March 7.

Seven cases were confirmed in Buckie (Buckie Central East four; Buckie West and Mains of Buckie three), while five were confirmed in Lossiemouth (all Lossiemouth West).

The Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley area had four cases, with three confirmed in the Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward area.

The remaining cases are spread across the area – however, an area will only show on the map if at least three cases have been confirmed.
