Approval for a new £5.6million manufacturing innovation centre at Forres is expected to be granted approval by Moray councillors tomorrow.
The centre, based at the town's enterprise park, will be a combination of re-purposing existing buildings and new-build construction.
As the innovation centre is part of the £100 million Moray Growth Deal, final clearance will also have to be given by the UK and Scottish governments.
However that is expected to be forthcoming within the next couple of months.
Once the centre is up and running the services offered there will include support for innovation, plus networking and peer-to-peer learning.
The organisations involved are set to include the University of Highlands and Islands, the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland and Business Energy Scotland.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise will take charge of the project as a whole.
A business case for the centre will be discussed by the council tomorrow (January 24).
The Moray Growth Deal aims to create 3500 new jobs, increase visitor numbers by 50,000 and help 450 business to expand.
It also includes plans to build 300 affordable houses. Part of the proposals are for 180 homes and student accommodation at Dallas Dhu on the outskirts of Forres.
