£5000 boost for Moray whisky bar

The Highlander Inn in Craigellachie will be given nearly £5000 from the proceeds of a whisky auction to help it through lockdown.

Almost £35,000 was raised in the sale on Saturday by the online specialists Whisky Auctioneer.

The online auction included seven bottles of Daftmill 2008 Single Bourbon Cask.

A total of 252 bids were placed from the UK as well as Japan, the USA, the Netherlands and Germany.

Half a dozen other whisky bars in Scotland are also set to benefit from donations of £4,941.53 each.

They are The Ardshiel in Campbeltown, Artisan in Wishaw, the Bon Accord in Glasgow, Dornoch Castle Hotel in Dornoch, Fiddlers Inn in Drumnadrochit and The Malt Room in Inverness.

Iain McClune, founder of Whisky Auctioneer, said: "We’re very proud to do our bit to help some of Scotland’s independent bars with this auction.

"It will hopefully provide them with a boost in what are extraordinarily tough times for the on-trade sector."
