56 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray in last seven days, as total reaches 416

FIFTY-SIX cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray in the last seven days, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 416.

This is the highest weekly total Moray has seen, up five from the 51 cases of the virus that were confirmed across the area in last Wednesday's update.

Since December 22, 505 negative tests have been returned by Moray residents. In the week prior, 506 negative tests were returned.

There have been no more coronavirus-related deaths in Moray, with the total remaining at 22.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 7610 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 874 on the 6736 reported last week.

Moray Neighbourhood update

A number of areas in Moray have confirmed cases of coronavirus at present.

The three worst hit local neighbourhood areas are Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley with nine cases, Lossiemouth East and Seatown with nine cases and New Elgin East with eight cases.

New Elgin West has five confirmed cases of the virus, Lossiemouth West has four, Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry has four, Keith and Fife Keith has three and Burghead, Roseisle and Laich has three.

Any area with fewer than three cases is no highlighted on the map.

Scotland-wide update

Today's daily update shows 2045 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus overnight, with 43 deaths of people who tested positive for the virus confirmed.

During the week ending December 30, 38,332 people were newly-tested with 9275 testing positive for the first time. The week prior, 47,740 people were newly-tested with 7118 positive.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 1,364,675 people in Scotland have been tested at least once, with 124,831 positive and 1,239,844 confirmed negative.

This week's death update has not been provided yet. A total of 6298 across Scotland have recorded since the outbreak began, with these numbers accurate as of December 20.

A total of 69 people were in intensive care on December 29 in relation to covid-19. On the same day, 1133 covid-19 patients were in hospital.

In total, 9180 patients who have tested positive for covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5.
