ELGIN'S much-loved Christmas pantomime is back at the Town Hall this week – starting tonight.
Elgin Amateur Dramatic Society will be performing A Christmas Carol, and there is a special feeling after the panto's future was under threat thanks to the General Election.
Doubt was cast over the show when the election was scheduled for Thursday, December 12, but the show will take a break tomorrow as ballots are tallied at the Town Hall and the cast will use the night to rehearse. The show is back on the road on Friday night at 7pm.
Panto writer and director Amanda Craib said: "It has been exciting with everything that has happened and bringing it all together. It has added something extra that we have all pulled together and it has been such a positive outcome.
"We love doing this so much and putting it on. Having the community behind us is a good boost for morale."
Ms Craib said ticket sales are going well, but there is still some left to buy on the door.
She said: "There is 14 tickets left for matinee on Saturday afternoon and we have had a surge of sales over past couple of days. We are really pleased with how they have gone.
"Tickets are still available on the door on the website."
The last time EADS performed A Christmas Carol was 1998.
