WHILE many things change, some things stay the same.

If proof were needed, this picture from The Northern Scot archives from June 13, 1979 highlights the point.

It shows a flooded High Street in Elgin after persistent heavy rain.

Heavy rain the last few days has made it one of the wettest starts to June across the country.

The highest rainfall locally was around the Pluscarden area where 23mm of rain fell in the 36 hours up to 9am on Thursday morning.

There could be some respite from the weather on Friday with sunny intervals and a light breeze forecast for Moray and a high of 16 degrees celsius.
