The collision took place at the Lynwilg junction about two miles south of the town.

It resulted in the route being closed in both directions for slightly over five hours.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers received report of a three-vehicle crash, involving, two cars and a lorry, on the A9 at the Lynwilg junction around 5pm on Tuesday.

"The male driver of one of the cars was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness as a precaution."
