THE state of Lhanbryde's Elsher Road cemetery has left one long-term visitor fed up.

Julie Simpson has been going to the cemetery since the death of her uncle in 2010 but, after her father died in 2016, has been going more regularly recently and has noticed the upkeep is poor.

Her father's grave has been dug up three times by moles, while bins are left overflowing and the grass, although cut on the same day Mrs Simpson made her complaint, is often long.

She said: "It's not nice and it's very upsetting. The grave was last dug up a few months ago, but has been dug up three times in three years.

"The bins are overflowing full of dog poo bags, which are spilling onto the ground. I appreciate people picking up their dog poo but there's a dog poo bin just a minute's walk away.

"It's the same every year. I phoned Moray Council twice and my step dad is always on the phone to them and they just tell us '"it's just the season for moles'".

There have also been complaints recently about the state of the cemetery in Burghead, where some graves were tipped, grass was long and seagull mess had caused a problem.
