ANGRY campaigners have hit out at yet another delay to a final decision on the future of RAF Lossiemouth.
An announcement had been anticipated this week, but it could now be Monday before the UK Government reveals the final basing structure.
And there is still a chance that a decision could be delayed until after the summer parliamentary recess. The Westminster Parliament is due to break up on Tuesday.
Councillor David Stewart, chair of the Save RAF Lossiemouth Action Group, said: "I am totally disgusted it has been put on the backburner again."It is not just our community that is affected but the people of Leuchars they have to think about."
Carolle Ralph, chair of Lossiemouth Community Council, said: "It is wrong if the announcement is made the day before Parliament breaks up. What opportunity will there be for discussion and debate. It worries me greatly.
"This is just terrible. The last 10 months have been an emotional rollercoaster for the people of Moray, the RAF and civilian personnel, and all the businesses that have been affected.
"People’s lives have been put on hold. I really hope there will be no further delay, it is shocking."
Moray MP Angus Robertson said: "The delays in the basing announcement are extremely disappointing and have caused distress to the people of Moray."
