POLICE officers in Elgin are appealing for witnesses after a report of a sneak-in theft in the Deanshaugh Terrace area this morning.

The incident occurred between 9.30am and 11am.

Vehicle keys, which have a distinctive Royal Bank of Scotland keyring, were stolen, as well as another key with a baby photo.

Change in money bags was also stolen.

PC Devenney of the Elgin Community Policing Team said: “This incident occurred during daylight hours and I would appeal to anyone who may have saw or heard anything unusual at the relevant times to get in touch with us."

She added: “I would take this opportunity to remind all householders to be mindful of securing their valuables and property at all times of the day.

"Try not to leave valuables on open display and always keep access points into your home locked."
