Elgin Sheriff Court heard that Alexander Williamson, known as Alexander Cowie, assaulted another man in the Rothes Pharmacy car park during an incident in May 2021.

Fiscal depute Shamielah Ghafar said that the 32-year-old waited in his car until his victim left the pharmacy on the Speyside village's High Street at around 9am.

He then got out of the car and started shouting at the man before things 'got heated between the two'.

Cowie was subsequently seen punching the man with a 'closed fist' making contact with his mouth.

Ms Ghafar said: "The witness sustained an injury to his nose which was bleeding, a tooth that had been knocked out and a cut that was bleeding."

Defence solicitor Stephen Carty said that his client had attacked his victim over a previous altercation involving a woman.

However, he added that Cowie regretted how he had handled the situation stating that he "should have handled it much better than he did."

Cowie also admitted another assault charge involving a woman in April 2020.

The court heard that Cowie, who had been drinking during the time of the incident, became "jealous about something" and punched the woman on the head.

That caused her to fall on the floor at a property on Provost Christie Drive in Rothes.

Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov ordered Cowie to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and imposed a restriction of liberty order for 80 days.
