A SERVICE which offers support to unpaid carers in Moray has received a prominent award in the sector for their efforts.

Quarriers Moray Carer Support Services have been awarded The Carers Trust Excellence for Carers Award for their achievements in giving high-quality support to those who need it.

They were honoured for their work in taking new approaches to make a difference to the lives of carers, and especially given credit for the service’s new pursuits in technology.

Sandi Downing, a staff member at Moray’s Carer Support Services, accepted the award for the team.

She said: “We are delighted to have the commitment and professionalism of the team recognised in this way, and look forward to continuing to work with our Carers Trust network partners to improve the lives of carers in Moray and across the UK.”

The Carers Trust, who present the awards, said in a statement that the services that were awarded demonstrated a positive approach to staff wellbeing, as well as a shared learning culture and a good support structure.

Helen Oliver, the quality and improvement manager at The Carers Trust, said: “We are pleased to be able to award Excellence for Carers to the Quarriers service.

“The team demonstrated their passion for providing a high-quality service to carers that make a difference in their lives.

“Carers were clearly at the heart of everything that the service does, and we were pleased to see the impact of shared working whilst maintaining a person-centred approach.

“We very much look forward to working with the service further and seeing how they grow and develop.”

Awards were also presented to the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire branches of the Quarriers service.
